A memorable circular walk from Wetton taking in the iconic Thor's Cave, breathtaking views over the Manifold Valley and the tranquil Manifold Trail via Beeston Tor.
I arrived in Wetton nice and early 7:30 a.m. to be precise to beat the crowds and grab one of the spaces in the small free car park. From there, it was just a short stroll to Thor's Cave.

As I approached the cave, I was surprised to see someone scrambling out. "It's all yours," he said with a smile as he headed off on his way. It felt like I'd timed my visit perfectly.
I carefully made my way inside, taking care on the smooth limestone rocks that have been polished by countless visitors over the years. After exploring the cave, I sat for a while with a coffee, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and appreciating having such an iconic landmark entirely to myself.
Feeling refreshed, I climbed to the top of Thor's Cave, where I was rewarded with fantastic views across the beautiful Manifold Valley. It's well worth the extra effort, as the panorama from above is just as impressive as the cave itself.
From there, I joined the Manifold Trail, enjoying the wonderful scenery as the route followed the valley floor. The final stretch took me back to Wetton via Beeston Tor, a striking limestone crag that provides another highlight of this memorable circular walk.
