My second time seeing Hugh in four days, but this time in the spectacular setting of the Devil’s Arse in Castleton.
I arrived early in the morning for a spot of walking, which took me into Castleton and a guided tour of Peak Cavern before heading on a hike to Mam Tor. Then, after a day exploring the area, it was back to Castleton in the evening for the main event.
Once again, Hugh and the band put on a fantastic performance. There was something pretty special about seeing Hugh Cornwell playing live in a setting like the Devil’s Arse, surrounded by the natural rock walls of the cavern.
Two Hugh Cornwell gigs in four days, two very different settings, and both memorable for completely different reasons.
Hopefully I’ll get the chance to see him again when the new album is released.
At 76, Hugh Cornwell is still rocking.
